Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a typical cleaning visit take?
It depends on how many pieces we’re cleaning and how dirty they are. A single couch takes about 1 to 2 hours, while a full living room set takes longer. We’ll give you a time estimate when you book, so you can plan your day.
Do I need to be home during the cleaning?
It’s best if you are, so you can show us the spots that bug you most and see the results before we leave. Can’t make it? No problem. If you can let us in remotely with a smart lock or a code, we’ll text you photos and drying tips when we’re done.
Is there a minimum order?
Yes, our minimum order is $130 per visit. Most families reach it by pairing couch cleaning with a few dining chairs or an area rug. It’s an easy way to refresh the whole room in one trip.
Can you clean my couch, mattress, and rug in the same visit?
Yes, and it saves you from booking three separate appointments. Just tell us everything you’d like done when you call. We’ll plan the visit so your mattress cleaning and rug cleaning happen alongside the couch, all in one day.
How soon can Upholstery Steamers come out?
We take cash, all major credit and debit cards, Zelle, and checks. You’ll pay after the job is done and you’ve had a chance to look everything over. No deposits, no surprises.
Do you charge extra for heavy stains or pet accidents?
Your quote already reflects the piece, its size, and its condition, so heavy dirt is covered before we start. If we find something unexpected, like a hidden pet stain, we’ll talk to you before doing any extra work.
Are express drying and fabric protector included?
No, both are optional add-ons. Express drying cuts drying time from 8–12 hours to about 3–4 hours. Fabric protector is a clear coating that helps spills bead up instead of soaking in. Just ask for pricing when you book.
Should I pre-treat stains before you arrive?
Please don’t. Store-bought spot sprays can leave a sticky residue or even set a stain, which makes it harder to remove. A quick vacuum is fine but not needed. We dry vacuum every piece before any upholstery cleaning starts.
Do you need water or electricity in my home?
Yes. Our machines plug into a regular outlet, and we’ll need a sink or tub to fill them with water. That’s it. We bring everything else, from the cleaning solution to the brushes and drying fans.
What should I do with my pets during the cleaning?
We love pets, but it’s best to keep them in another room while we work. The machines are loud, and curious paws can track through damp spots. Once everything is dry, your dog can reclaim his favorite spot on the couch.
Will my house smell like chemicals afterward?
No. Our eco-friendly products leave a light, clean scent that fades as the fabric dries. You won’t get that heavy, perfumed smell. Most people just notice their couch smells fresh, kind of like clean laundry.
What should I do while my furniture dries?
Keep kids and pets off it, crack a window, and run a fan or the AC, especially on humid days. If a damp rug touches wooden furniture legs, slip foil or plastic under them. That keeps wood stain from bleeding into the fibers.
Why did a spot come back after cleaning?
That’s called wicking. Sometimes a spill soaks deep into the cushion foam. As the fabric dries, moisture pulls it back up, like a coffee ring creeping across a paper towel. If you notice it, call us, and we’ll take another look.
Can you remove pet odors from upholstery?
Yes. Our odor removal process targets the source of the smell inside the fabric and padding — not just the surface. Pet urine odors can often be eliminated or significantly reduced. Severe cases may require more than one treatment, depending on how deep the contamination has settled.
Are your technicians trained and insured?
Yes. Every Upholstery Steamers technician is trained to handle different fabric types and cleaning situations. Our professional standards cover proper equipment handling, safe product use, and respectful conduct inside your home. We treat every house as if it were our own.
Will professional upholstery cleaning damage my couch or fabric?
No — when done correctly, professional upholstery cleaning is safe for your furniture. Every job starts with a fabric inspection to determine the right method and products for your specific material. We use fabric-appropriate solutions and controlled water pressure to prevent shrinkage, discoloration, or fiber damage. Delicate fabrics are treated differently than synthetics. Most fabric damage people experience comes from DIY products or harsh chemicals used at home. Professional upholstery fabric cleaning, done the right way, actually helps preserve your fabric and extend the life of your furniture.
